Portrait Services, Equine and Animal Art

In addition to painting landscapes en plein air, my work is focused on sporting and equine art, and in particular, animal portraits. I look to the work of Stubbs, Sargent, and Munnings for inspiration and guidance. With portraiture, my aim is to work with clients to achieve a work of art that captures the spirit and personality of the subject. Depending on the subject, I work from both life and reference materials as I create the painting.

I have been involved with horses since I was a young child, growing up in the hunter/jumper arena in suburban Maryland. For as long as I can remember, they have been a favorite subject and creatures of ongoing fascination. I have studied the anatomy of horses and dogs as extensively and as thoroughly as that of human beings.

Many people understand the intrinsic worth of a painted portrait and appreciate the lasting value of a work on canvas. A painting is a unique entity that can last for hundreds of years. A quality portrait becomes a treasured heirloom for families to enjoy for generations. It would be my pleasure to arrange a consultation to discuss the type of painting you are considering and answer any questions you may have.
